I'm not much of a Queen fan. They've got a few songs I genuinely love (Under Pressure, Somebody To Love, Radio Gaga), a few I enjoy because I think they're so awful (the Flash Gordon soundtrack), and about a billion songs that I would probably like if I hadn't heard them in all sorts of movies, tv shows, commercials, and sporting events. They're talented musicians, clearly accomplished song writers, and Freddy Mercury's voice is undeniable. But they're also so over exposed that I can't really appreciate the music for what it is.
I thought this pack was ok. Much like the music itself, it isn't really my thing, but I can see why half of my friends list on psn is calling it the best dlc ever.
If nothing else, its a must buy if you're a bass player. These aren't difficult bass songs at all, but they are quite fun. Some of the charts are a little sparse for my tastes (guitar has the same problem too actually), and a few charts are kind of samey, but the best bass charts are awesome.
Guitar didn't do very much for me. Without exception, the solo's are fun. Unfortunately, the non solo parts of every song aren't that fun. You're basically playing three minutes of blah to get to a 30 second kick ass solo. To my mind one isn't worth the other, but I know some guitar players who might call that a fair trade. Maybe I just don't like playing Brian May. It probably says something that my favorite guitar chart was Somebody To Love, where you spend 9/10's of the song playing piano lol.
The drums are hit and miss for me. About half of them are awesome (Under Pressure is great fun, for instance), with fun fills, a couple of cool drum solos, and lots of variety in patterns. And about half of them just make me zone out and think about other songs I'd rather be playing instead (I'm looking at YOU, Another One Bites The Dust!!!).
Overall, I'd say you probably don't need the whole pack unless you're a huge Queen fan (and there are certainly plenty of those out there). I think you could go with a three pack of Under Pressure, Somebody To Love, and I Want It All and get all the good this pack has to offer, without dealing with any of the bad.
