What a Battle Royale this week! There were really solid entries all around and it took some long hours of gameplay for me to narrow this down to the one song that is the "must buy".
This Week -
A Day To Remember - The Downfall Of Us All
All of the warped tour entries are new material for me. I love weeks like this, because RockBand has intruduced me to so much new music. All songs played well, and would make excellent additions to your library but this one stood out on all insruments just for the fun factor. Here is why...
Guitar - It's strummy most of the way through, with the exception of a short but wicked HO/PO section, that is gonna trip most of us up the first few times. Still this is fun easy chord strumming that you can thrash your head to at the same time!
Bass - No big surprises throughout. I loved that i could bounce and move around the whole way through the song and just enjoy the ride.
Drums - It won't challenge the true experts, but i don't think they will find it boring either. For a tier 3 drummer such as myself it was awesome! Heavy on the kick pedal, with some quick double kicks and some good "thumpthumpthump" through the chorus. Quite awesome.
Vocals - Call it Punk, Emo, Modern Rock, Alternative... whatever. Songs like this are a blast to sing! Save your OD for the chorus. It's the easiest and has the most phrases. If you don't find yourself jumping around and rocking to this, you need to check your pulse.
Party - It's not well known, but i'm betting it will be soon. Put this in the hands of some skilled players who don't mind showing out and you could charge a cover at the door! Everybody crash the OD at the beginning of the chorus and just start rocking. You might just end up with a few real life fans!
In closing, I wanted to give a shout out to "The Flood" another very solid Warped track. Kudos to Pearl Jam for having some really awesome showings on individual instruments. And Maroon 5 can suck it for having a lazy bassist.
Hope you enjoy this weeks edition of the $2 catch of the week. More warped coming up? Um... OK. Hope these are just as good! Remember mileage may vary per user, all opinions welcome. Please discuss.
