I'm not sure that i'm as impressed with this as everyone else seems to be. sure it's Incubus doing a great cover of a great song. But I expected them to do a little more to take it and make it their own. Maybe add some scratching, or replace the keyboard with some chunky guitar effects.... or something. This is just another band doing almost exactly what Prince did. Maybe i was just expecting too much.

I like it for the fact that they stuck to the original.. From watching American Idol these covers can either go good or bad depending on what they try and do.. You start adding things and it can actually take away from the song and make it hokey.. It depends on the artist and what they bring to the song.. I like it because it is a really good cover and most likely this song is so tied up in the music business it probably wouldn't see the light of day with the original..

No doubt they did a great job replicating what was already done. I just love to see more personal band flair with cover songs, expecially from big name acts such as Incubus. I also had heard some radio personalities raving about this cover earlier this week, so i think i just went in expecting too much.

I'm not an Incubus fan, but I don't think I'd care for this even if I was. Fish is right, there's no sense in covering a song if you can't do anything to distinguish it from the original. Although why we would expect the blandest band in the world to make a Prince song more lively is beyond me lol.

im just shocked they mustered up the energy to even do this this is way to uptempo for them. Lately i agree with you, but the Incubus I know and love is from their first 3 or 4 albums. S.C.I.E.N.C.E., Fungus Amongus and Make Yourself are all pretty high energy. Morning View and A Crow Left of the Murder had some real stand outs as well. Light Grenades I haven't heard it all yet, I like the song Dig, but other than that it's pretty meh.
