Well its a bad week for DLC for me. I'm no fan of Green Day and really really no fan of metal so won't be going anywhere near the Mayhem pack (just can't bring myself to buy songs I won't be able to play without lots of practice but won't want to listen to to practice them).
I've got about 250 DLC now so a little under half of what's been released - obvious stuff like Boston, No Doubt, Chilli Peppers, Foo Fighters, Texas Flood, Pearl Jam and Jane's Addiction I already have. But are there any Freddy favorites I may have missed and could get this week instead of the new DLC for use in jam sessions. For example I didn't have "Closer to the Heart" until last week's challenge and that's awesome.

You should get Red Tandy. The first part of the song is pretty straightforward, but the second half is this big extended jam that's really fun on drums. Its got one of the better bass charts in the game too, if that matters to you (I can't remember if you play anything besides drums).
Funk 49 and Typical both get played in freddy jams alot, and they have awesome drum charts. And everybody in my band (well, everybody but the singer) likes The Way That It Shows alot too. Also Love Spreads kicks ass. Just a few favorites off the top of my head.

Wow, that's a loaded question, I'm sure between everyone logging on here we could list just about every song as being favorites. I guess I will start and try and throw in some things that might be easily overlooked.
Allman Brothers Steely Dan MTV2 Pak Richard Thompson - The Way That It Shows Grateful Dead - Franklin's Tower - Hell In A Bucket - China Cat Sunflower - Sugar Magnolia Garbage - Why Do You Love Me? The Killers Steve Miller Band Belly - Feed The Tree Nirvana Deep Purple Fallout Boy Presidents of the U.S.A.
I know many will disagree with me on the last 2, but i quite enjoy them ;D

Damn, how did I forget the Dead, Steely Dan, and MTV2 Pack? Those are all solid picks. Forget what I said up top there and get the first Dead pack. And if you're unsure about the whole MTV2 pack, at least get Bullets and Guns. That was my favorite song in the game for like 6 months straight.
Fallout Boy and the Presidents: I don't really enjoy listening to either of those bands, but I think you'd have to be crazy to deny their songs make for awesome music game charts. Beating Dead On Arrival for the first time on expert drums has got to be one of my all time favorite rock band memories ;D

Thanks Guys
I only play drums on Expert, I do like playing Bass to but am only just working my way onto Hard at the moment – miles from Expert yet so good Bass songs are of interest (I love Hysteria though can’t do it past medium). I was stuck on Dead on Arrival for ages on drums RB1 then one day it just came to me and I can play it fairly consistently now (although I’ve never got more than 4 stars) it was a great moment to beat it though. Of course I then got stuck on (Don’t Fear) The Reaper so never got to the last tier on RB1 (although I can get through “Next to You” and play “Tom Sawyer” and “Flirtin’ with Disaster” pretty well.
I have Funk #49 (haven’t played it enough yet really need to practice it more it is fun), “Why Do You Love Me?”, the Killers (one of my favourite bands – I remember the anticipation the day that pack came out), the Steve Miller Band and Nirvana packs and the Fall Out Boy songs.
I was thinking of getting the Presidents of the USA pack anyway as I love “Lump” so that’s a definite. I’ll pick up “Red Tandy”, “Typical” and “The Way it Shows” and the MTV pack as well. I’ll have a look at the rest – The Allman Brothers and Steely Dan look promising, never heard The Grateful Dead as I’d assumed they were metal but they are listed as “Classic Rock”.

Grateful Dead is definitely Classic Rock. I was never a fan of theirs, but they were one of those bands that created an enormous following of transients and hippies who did nothing but follow them from city to city for live shows. Arguably one of the most popular american bands of all time. The first Pak is solid all around and great fun to play and listen to. I see them in a new light since playing them in RockBand. I would be surprised if you've never heard any of these songs before.

Oh and all of the Presidents stuff are really quirky fun songs, and are much more challenging than you would think just by listening to them.

Okay so to make up for my crushing disappointment with this week’s DLC (after we’ve had The Cranberries, Franz Ferdinand and Maroon 5 fairly recently I guess there was always likely to be a week when I didn’t want anything) I picked up the following that were recommended above:
Presidents of the USA pack MTV2 Pack Moving Pictures pack (love the album just haven’t got round to buying it yet) Red Tandy Love Spreads Feed the Tree Typical The Way that it Shows
Look forward to trying these out in some Freddy jams soon. If my connection allows me in.
Might look at getting The Grateful Dead stuff as well, I’ll try to listen to some of it first and i'll probably get The Pixies soon as well as I love "Wave of Mutilation".

I liked the pixies a lot more than i thought i would. That being said, you might be able to save yourself some money if you just wanted to pick up 5 or 6 of the better pixie tracks. my faves... Monkey Gone to Heaven Debaser Here Comes Your Man Gouge Away
I'd be interested to hear your take on some of the stuff you just picked up. Hope you enjoy!

Played the MTV2 pack last night and really enjoyed it. It’s often hard to pick random DLC when you don't know the band. Yet I've got into so much new music through rock band its from bands I'd never that its always worth checking out stuff I don’t know. So I’m very encouraged about the rest of the new stuff I downloaded. However I then played through The Clash challenge which I hadn’t done yet then started “Moving Pictures”, I did “Tom Sawyer” but failed “Red Barchatta” on my sightread and then had to leave it. I’ll try some more of the new stuff tonight.

Honestly I'd skip the Pixies all together unless you're a fan (and I say this as a moster Pixies fan). There's just not alot to do in those tracks on any instrument. Wave of Mutilation has the best drum chart of the bunch and you already have that one.
