Abbey Road is my favorite Beatles album, and it contains my favorite Beatles song (Golden Slumber/Carry That Weight). Despite that, I still think its a really weird choice for full album dlc, especially when its the premier dlc offering for the Beatles game. Most of the big well known songs from Abbey Road are already on the game disc. One of the left over tracks is Maxwell's Silver Hammer, which is one of the Beatles most hated on songs. And you've got Sgt. Pepper's and Rubber Soul waiting to be released, both of which have left over songs that are probably more familiar to non die hard fans. Still, like I said, I'm a big fan of this one, so I'm pretty happy about being able to play it straight through.
All that said, is it worth buying? If we're talking the full album, probably not. I just can't see the casual gamer enjoying themselves while playing Because or Maxwell's (though Maxwell's does have a pretty fun bass chart). I like both of these songs a lot, but that's because I'm a big nerd for Moog synthesizers and these two songs chart the Moog to guitar. If you're a nerd like me that's awesome. Normal people will not be impressed.
But the medley and Oh Darling are absolutely worth your time. Oh Darling has one of the weakest guitar charts I've ever played, but it makes up for it with outstanding bass and drum charts. Once the song gets going it really is a blast.
The medley is the highlight for me. Every instrument gets a few chances to shine on various parts of the medley, and playing the whole thing through is a pretty epic feeling. If you don't want to bother with the whole thing, I'd recommend You Never Give Me Your Money or Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End. Definitely the most fully formed sections, and they both give the entire band plenty to do.
So as I said above, you probably don't need the whole thing. But you're robbing yourself of some fun if you pass on Oh Darling and the medley.
