Matt Kap – Guitar, Vocals
Jeremy Nesse – Bass, Keys,Vocals
Scott Manley - Drums
As many great stories do, the tale of Moving Picture Show began with a solitary want ad in a Los Angeles paper. "Guitar Player Wanted”, it read. That little ad proved to be the catalyst that put Matt Kap in a room one day with Scott and Jeremy. And with a few half-forgotten prayers from Sunday school, a handful of sweaty rehearsals, and some slyly won eBay auctions of rusty marching band instruments, Moving Picture Show was born.
Moving Picture Show is a school bus sing-a-long if the MGMT, Peter Gabriel, Franz Ferdinand and the Cars were all in first grade together. Their songs fuse the peach fuzz sounds of the early 80s with modern dance rock energy, and their mission is simple: to make you spasm, shout and drop your jaw with their songs, spirit and fierce joy that could make your heart pound a little harder.
Moving Picture Show has been played repeatedly on KROQ's "Locals Only" with Kat Corbett in Los Angeles. They’ve been recently featured in MTV’s latest installment of The Real World: Brooklyn and Road Rules Challenge. Their official KROQ interview can be heard on www.kroq.com
“Catching an MPS show was like being a kid watching a three-ring circus...claps, a cappella whispers, and whistling...when combined with good music and talented musicianship, it can create magic, just as MPS does. Indeed, if there is an equation to formulating a catchy tunes, this act understands the science.”
- Paula Munoz / MUSIC CONNECTION MAGAZINE
“Moving Picture show are classy, sincere, danceable and possess just enough of ze rock to satisfy the masses. If you're lucky, they might even pull out some tricks they learned at band camp...”
– Etan Rosenbloom / PREFIXMAG.COM
Moving Picture Show can be found touring and performing all over California, Arizona, and Nevada, playing prestigious LA clubs such as The Troubadour, The Roxy, Beauty Bar, and Spaceland.
1 How did you guys meet? What is behind the name of your band ?
Jeremy (bass/voice/keys/MAC) and I (Matt - vocals/guitar) met through another band he was in called Spacewalk. That band imploded and I called Jeremy that day to see if he wanted to get together since I knew how talented he was. We found Scott (drums) through the Berklee Music grapevine since Jer and Scott went to Berklee. When our last drummer didn't work out we got together with Scott at a rehearsal space in North Hollywood one night and instantly knew we had something special going on.
2 How would you describe your sound?
We try to pull in so many sounds but we describe it as retro indie dance rock. As if the Police, the Foo Fighters, the Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel and MGMT were all in first grade together and formed a band.

3You guys where included in 2 MTV shows , how cool was that?
It was pretty cool! The last time they used us in The Real World I think one of the girls was freaking out because her folks discovered she was bisexual when they saw her hook up on MTV. We were proud!
4 What are the bands influences?
All across the map from Fugazi to Radiohead to Smashing Pumpkins, Brian Eno, Bowie, Prince, Arcade Fire, Devo, the Cars, Depeche Mode, TV on the Radio, Muse, Yes, Nick Drake, Brazilian Girls, Daniel Lanois, Jaco, Fugazi, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Sunny Day Real Estate, Miles Davis, Led Zeppelin, Pat Metheny, Ryan Adams, The Refused, Snapcase, Chamberlain, Faraquet, Wilco, The Police, Talking Heads, Jawbox, John Coltrane and even a little Danny Elfman.
5 How do you guys feel about the music games like Rockband and Guitar Hero?
Crazy fun. We had a very intensely competitive bout when we were down in Austin for South By Southwest at the iLike party house. It is nothing like playing a real instrument though so you must unlearn what you have learned. ;D
6 What are you guys enjoying musically today?
Collectively we've been listening to a lot of southern soul from STAX, Simon and Garfunkel, old Van Halen, some prog/ambient, Fugazi, Feist, Faraquet, Sunny Day Real Estate, Jeremy Enigk, Pat Metheny, Miles Davis, George Crumb, Messiaen, Wilco, John Coltrane, and The Evens
7 You are in charge to run Coachella , who are you booking ?

8 Any advice for young people starting out in the music industry?
Everything has changed and there are more opportunities to get your music out there than ever before. Unfortunately that means there is more music out there and you need to find a way of separating yourself from the pack. Play as much as possible, focus on your songs and figure out who you are as a band. Then play with as many bands as possible and never let your ego get in the way of the ultimate goal which is to make money making music.
9 What are some of your favorite venues you got to play?
The Viper Room on the Sunset strip is our favorite, then Spaceland, the Troubadour, Cinespace, the Beauty Bar in San Diego and Las Vegas are both cool.
10 Whats your guys favorite song to play live? Do you do any covers during your live show?
Are favorite song right now is our new song called Perfect World since it really gets people's attention. We do a Peter Gabriel song called "Games Without Frontiers" that my sister sang on for the record and we love closing our sets with that song.
11 What is on the horizon for Moving Picture Show ?
We're going to finish 5-6 more songs on our new LP then play as many shows as possible around southern California, Nevada and Arizona to support the new songs as well as put together an east coast tour in 2010.
soon to be on rockband as well enjoy !
