Absolutely - I just managed to squeeze in a couple of jams Friday night but besides a bit of Lego I didn't have much chance to jam this weekend. And next weekend I have a salsa congress and the weekend after an early Christmas celebration in London but I'll try and catch you in the week sometime.

“Jim’s Fred Phobia” had it’s first crack at some Lego tracks last night. I was on drums, Hamreus and Hellstar on guitar and bass and Fishheadstewy on Vox.
Song 2 (2) 705,166 – TOP TEN SCORE, only 14,000 behind number 1 Two Princes (14) 660,810 – that turned out to be unexpectedly tricky and I made a total mess of it Ghostbusters (9) 1,020,480 – TOP TEN SCORE but amazingly no gold stars despite everyone getting scores in the high 90s Free Fallin’ (4) – 1,289,948 TOP TEN SCORE Summer of ’69 – 1,129,098 – TOP TEN SCORE Hannukah Blessings (12) 870,254 – okay its not lego but I’ve always wanted to play this in a full band as its the only BNL song in the game You Give Love a Bad Name (6) 986,070 – TOP TEN SCORE Valerie (3) 1,176,475 – TOP TEN SCORE Crocodile Rock (6) 1,465,860 - TOP TEN SCORE The Final Countdown (12) 1,051,926 – the only time my drums cut out during the set was near the end of this song which cost us a few points (I forgot to discharge the pads before the song started) We Will Rock You (5) 638,107 – TOP TEN SCORE We Are The Champions (4) 856,501 – TOP TEN SCORE Walking on Sunshine (3) 1,416,200 – TOP TEN SCORE Suddenly I See (5) 820,389 – TOP TEN SCORE Real Wild Child (5) 1,413,670 – TOP TEN SCORE Let’s Dance (3) 995,482 Kung Fu Fightin’ (2) 918,230 – TOP TEN SCORE Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast) (7) 1,162,411 – TOP TEN SCORE
I was surprised by how many top ten scores we managed, as its taken weeks for us to get Lego in Europe I had expected lots more high scores on these songs by now.

Well after attending a three day Salsa congress over the weekend which mainly involved dancing until 5AM each night then having 4-5 hours sleep on an inflatable mattress on the kitchen floor then doing lessons all day and dancing all night again I was a little tired yesterday. However the rock must go on so a couple of short jams took place. First Hamreus and Helstar took guitar and Bass and Fishheadstewy vox:
Ride a White Swan (4) 630,235 Thunder (2) 1,096,609 Tick Tick Boom (4) 1,109,260 Accidentally in Love (6) 1,252,488
We were about to embark on a massive jam when some chaps came by to give by central heating its annual service (I’d forgotten they were coming) so I unfortunately had to retire early.
Anyway I played another quick set later with Helstar again and Pickford sharing guitar duties this time and Luxe on Vox:
Girls and Boys (4) 1,134,438 The Passenger (4) 1,313,321 – my drums cutting out mid song cost us gold stars here, sorry guys Ruby (4) 1,446,204 So What (6) 1,277,350 Who Knew (2) 1,255,651 Dig (6) 1,390,832
I stuck with Lego and one new DLC so all were TOP TEN SCORES – well done everyone and thanks for jamming.
Keep Rocking J

The concerted effort to play all the Lego tracks continued last night as “Jim’s Fred Phobia” jammed once more. I was behind the kit as usual, Fishheadstewy on vox and Hamreus and Helstar on Guitar and Bass.
Word Up! (5) 743,776 Life is a Highway (6) 1,083,545
We then played “Short and Sweet” but my drums cut out half way through and then we all got kicked out and had to rejoin and I couldn’t be bothered to play it again as its an annoying song – and I like most of the Spinal Tap tracks.
Stumble and Fall (5) 920,705 Swing Swing (4) 1,421,255 Make me Smile (Come Up and See Me) (6) 1,492,844 In to Deep (9) 1,009,352 Grace (5) 734,279 Any Way You Want It (659) 971,279 Monster (9) 1,200,892 Breakout (10) 1,130,080 Dreaming of You (7) 645,610 Naïve (4) 936,313 Crash (6) 1,086,763 Every Little Thing She Does is Magic (7) 985,500 A-Punk (8) 765,383 Check Yes Juliet (6) 1,340,665 Aliens Exist (9) 655,108 Take Me To the River (13) 1,159,357 Here Comes my Girl (Live) (6) 1,114,930
So that leaves only “I Want You Back”, “Short and Sweet” and “Fire” to play and JFP had played everything off Lego. Again almost all the lego scores were top ten – I really had assumed it would me more like the RB1 tracks where its hard to get a top ten spot, strange more bands haven’t played these.
Next week I’d really like to play through all of “The Colour and the Shape” and “Backspacer” plus the rest of the Tom Petty tracks if anyone else particularly wants to jam those.

Well my drumkit was not on best behaviour last night but we managed a jam anyway. Started with me on drums, MistressD on Vox, Pickford on Bass and Helstar or guitar. After an initial cut out we managed to get two songs in:
Summer of ‘69 (5) 1,325,987 – TOP TEN SCORE Walk Like an Egyptian (7) 1,198,261 – TOP TEN SCORE
Then another cut out and Pickford had to go so Tack jumped in and alternated guitar and bass with Star. I put a cotton sheet under the kit which seemed to help for a while:
Come as You Are 1,041,281 – No band leaderboards for this song yet? Crocodile Rock (9) 1,288,708 – TOP TEN SCORE Good Times Roll (25) 1,005,837 Lonely As You (16) 1,285,678 All Right Now (29) 1,096,805 I Stand Alone (61) 1,108,875 I Want You Back (8) 612,654 – TOP TEN SCORE You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’ (18) 1,996,470 If I Ain’t Got You (26) 947,494 Lithium 1,388,115 – Again no band leaderboards for this one Spiderwebs (64) 1,634,708 Burn You Down (100) 750,241
We then started “So What” but my drums decided enough was enough and so I called it a night before I threw them out of the window. Next I’m gonna try FHS’s tip about putting anti static dryer sheets under the pads.

Paul how did you fix your drums???

Post by jimcallumuk1812 on Dec 19, 2009 17:24:15 GMT -5
It appears that it's all about static in the drum pads so isolating the kit from the floor does very little as pounding the rubber drum heads in dry air will cause static build up anyway even if not on carpet. So I got a normal household cleaning product spray dispenser that was empty, washed it out and filled it with about 1/3 fabric softener (which reduces static on clothes) and 2/3 water. Then every few songs I lightly spray the drum heads - not so they're soaking but sothers's a bit of spray on each and they're slippy to the touch. Since i've done this there's been no static build up on any so hopefully its a fix.
